I was listening to a grandmother in one of my feeding sessions say that she felt she had created a bad habit. This really sparked my attention as I am a new Grandma. She told me she felt she had set up a bad habit by offering food to her grandson at the grocery store. She said that as soon as they enter the grocery store now he asks for food.
Well, I love that. Think of all the new foods, colours, fruit, vegetables and meats/fish the children see when they are surrounded by groceries. It’s a great environment to explore new tastes and stimulate a hunger.
Grocery shopping is a fun way to have your reluctant eater choose food and ask for tastes of new foods.
Studies show us that grocery shopping and cooking with your child creates a happy food atmosphere.
I have fond memories of grocery shopping with my mom. Your child can be exposed to many foods without any pressure to eat those foods.
So shop and offer food as you explore the grocery store
