What a Face !! Should We Try Again?
Many parents tell me that their child’s lunch often comes home from school not eaten. Here are some tips for encouraging your child to eat their lunch;
- have your child help you pack their lunch
- they can choose one item freely
- they can then choose between two less preferred foods
- then they can choose a colour of food and the parent chooses a food that is that colour
- hide a sticker under the less preferred food to make it exciting when they pick up that food
- when they come home comment on something positive and do not mention what was not eaten, for example you could say “I see you found the sticker”
It is frustrating to see a lunch come home. Children who have no feeding challenges find eating lunch difficult at school. Be patient and get the child involved.
